Privacy Policy

Last updated October 27, 2026
StormSnap provides stormwater (SWPPP) inspection software on the web at stormsnap.app and in our iOS and Android apps. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

• Account information: your name, email address, company, role (inspector, developer, or city official), and password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider).
• Profile details you choose to add: phone number, certifications or license numbers, service area, company logo, report colors, and signature.
• Inspection records: project and permit details, addresses, BMP checklist results, notes, weather, photos, signatures, and the PDF reports generated from them.
• Location: when you allow it, the device location attached to a site or photo so it can be mapped. We do not track your location in the background.
• Camera and photos: images you take or choose for an inspection. We only access the camera or photo library when you start that action.
• Billing information: when you subscribe on stormsnap.app, Stripe collects your card and billing details. We receive your plan, subscription status, and the last four digits of your card, never your full card number.
• Technical information: device type, app version, error reports, and basic usage events we use to keep the service working.

2. How we use information

• To provide the service: create inspections, generate and store reports, and share them with the people you choose.
• To run your account and subscription, including trials, renewals, and receipts.
• To send service messages such as report notifications, security notices, and billing emails.
• To fix problems, prevent abuse, and improve StormSnap.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your inspection records for advertising.

3. Who can see your inspection records

Reports belong to the account that creates them. They are visible to the people you or your organization grant access to, such as a project developer or the city or county reviewer assigned to that site. Files are stored privately and opened through short-lived signed links.

4. Service providers

We use a small set of providers who process data on our behalf under contract:
• Supabase: database, authentication, and private file storage.
• Vercel: website hosting.
• Stripe: payments and subscription billing.
• Google Maps Platform: map display for sites you add.
• Open-Meteo: weather conditions for a site location.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and StormSnap.

5. Data retention and deletion

We keep your account and inspection records while your account is open, because many permits require inspection records to be kept for years. You can ask us to delete your account and all associated data at stormsnap.app/account/delete. We complete deletion requests within 30 days, except for records we must keep for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons, such as billing history.

6. Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is restricted by row-level security so each account only reaches the records it is allowed to see. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

7. Your choices and rights

You can review and update your profile in Settings, turn off location, camera, and notification permissions in your device settings, and request a copy or deletion of your data by emailing support@stormsnap.app. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete your information; we honor these requests regardless of location.

8. Children

StormSnap is a professional tool and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their information.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the date above and notify account holders by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
